DAC approves acquisition of three cadet training ships
  • The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman approved acquisition of three cadet training ships for the Indian Navy at a cost of about Rs 2,700 crore.
  • These ships would be utilised to provide basic sea training for officer cadets including women officer
  • They would also be capable of undertaking hospital ship duties, providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, undertaking search and rescue (SAR) missions and non-combatant evacuation operations.
  • The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), under the Defence Minister was constituted for overall guidance of the defence procurement planning process.The objective of the Defence Acquisition Council is to ensure expeditious procurement of the approved requirements of the Armed Forces in terms of capabilities sought, and time frame prescribed, by optimally utilizing the allocated budgetary resources.

Adobe, NITI Aayog partner to enhance digital literacy
  • Software firm Adobe has partnered with Niti Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) to collaborate on enhancing digital literacy and creativity skills.
  • The two parties have signed a statement of intent (SOI) to collectively drive the charter of developing creative skills and spreading digital literacy across all Atal Tinkering Labs in India with the support of Adobe’s resources and expertise.
  • Adobe will also implement its Digital Disha Programme across 100 schools under Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) initiative.

Development schemes launched in Kalaigaon LAC
  • Six new infrastructure development schemes were recently launched in 65 Kalaigaon LAC. The foundation stone of the Rs 4.30 crore RCC bridge over Kalpani river at Jhargaon near Khoirabari town was laid by Lwmsraw Daimari.
  • The Executive Member also launched construction works of the Rs 2.44 crore RCC bridge over Maldangpara Morasuti river.
  • MLA Maheswar Boro of 65 Kalaigaon LAC laid the foundation stone of the Rs 2 crore PWD road from Khoirabari town to Khoirabari Railway Station.
  • Boro also laid the foundation stone of the Rs 2.48 crore RCC bridge over Kalpani river near Khoirabari.
