• The World Economic Forum (WEF)’s released Inclusive Development Index(IDI) 2018, which measures how countries perform on eleven dimensions of economic progress in addition to GDP.

India ranks 30^th in WEF Global Manufacturing Index

• India is among the bottom five countries on the Environmental Performance Index 2018, by Yale and Columbia Universities along with the World Economic Forum.

 India slips to 133^rd position in World Happiness Report 2018

• India ranked far behind Pakistan (at 75), Nepal (at 101), Bhutan (at 97), Bangladesh (at 115) and Sri Lanka (at 116), China stands at 86 in World Happiness Report by Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations.
•  Top 10 countries – Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and Australia.

India is World’s Largest Importer of Arms

• As per report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), in 2013-17, India accounting for 12 per cent of the total global import.
• The US is world’s top exporter of weapons

 

India at 138th rank in World Press Freedom Index 2018

• Top 10 Countries – Norway (1st), Sweden (2nd), Netherlands (3rd), Finland (4th), Switzerland (5th), Jamaica (6th), Belgium (7th), New Zealand (8th), Denmark (9th) and Costa Rica (10th).
• North Korea (180) remained the most repressive country followed by Eritrea, Turkmenistan, Syria and then China (176).
