Govt Launches Swajal Programme and Gangotri Swachh Iconic Place Project

The projects aim at cleanliness, providing basic amenities to the people of Ganga bank villages and generating employment.People were urged to plant trees on the river bank is also the responsibility of people.

More than 1.5 lac saplings are ready to be planted in Ganga Catchment area in Uttarkashi this year.Swajal Project is a community-owned drinking water programme for sustained drinking water supply.


India Successfully Test-Fires Agni-II Missile

India successfully test-fired Agni II medium-range nuclear-capable missile from APJ Abdul Kalam island off the Odisha coast. The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) fired Agni-II from a mobile launcher at launch complex 4 of the Integrated Test Range.

Agni-II, which has a length of 20 meters, weighs 17 tonnes and can carry a payload of 1000 kgs over a distance of 2000 km. It is a part of the Agni series of missiles developed by the DRDO.


India and Indonesia Joint Military Drill ‘Garuda Shakti’ Begins

The Indian and Indonesian armies began the sixth edition of their annual military exercise named ‘Garuda Shakti’ in Bandung, Indonesia. It is a two-week long joint Military drill.

The exercises will include experience sharing in counter-terrorism operations, close quarter combat, and other areas of special operations.

Special Package to tackle Insurgency in Arunachal Pradesh

Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister of India, has sanctioned a special package to strengthen the security in the three districts of Arunanchal Pradesh.

The package is sanctioned to tackle insurgency, create new posts and purchasing of vehicle and equipment in Tirap. Changlang and Longding. The announcement was made on the event organised to celebrate the 31st statehood day of Arunachal Pradesh on 20th February 2018.


Parivartan Scheme launched in Haryana

The state government of Haryana, with a view to addressing major 10 issues including cleanliness and pollution, has launched Parivartan Scheme. The scheme will be launched in 46 development blocks of Haryana.

The scheme will address the 10 major issues that include facilitation of financing, making agriculture profitable and sustainable, improving health services, implementing Swachh Bharat, decongesting market areas, engaging the youth, checking air pollution, ensuring availability of identity-related services, effective policing, and ensuring road order and conduct.


India ranks 81 in Corruption Perception Index 2017

Corruption Perception Index has been released by Berlin-based non-government organisation Transparency International (TI) and India is placed at 81st rank in it with 40 points.

New Zealand and Denmark ranked highest with scores of 89 and 88 respectively. Syria, South Sudan and Somalia rank lowest with scores of 14, 12 and 9 respectively. The best performing region is Western Europe with an average score of 66.

Union Government Sets Up The NITI Forum for Northeast

The Union Government issued orders setting up the Niti Forum for North-‘East’. The forum will be co-chaired by the Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Mr. Rajiv Kumar and Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region (DoNER), Dr. Jitendra Singh. The forum will have its Secretariat in the Ministry of DoNER. The NITI Forum for Northeast is tasked to identify various constraints on the way of accelerated, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the North East Region of the country and to recommend suitable interventions for addressing identified constraints.


Tribal festival ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ organised by Assam

The Chief Minister of Assam has organised tribal festival called ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ at Gandhi Mandir Indoor Stadium Field in Guwahati to celebrate ethnic tribal culture of the country.

It is a 10 days festival conducted by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation in India in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to celebrate old culture of tribal communities in India.


Airtel, Huawei conduct India’s first 5G network trial in Gurugram

Airtel and Huawei have successfully conducted India’s first 5G (fifth generation) network trial in Manesar, Gurugram, Haryana.It would be able to achieve over 3 gigabits per second (Gbps) data speed.Airtel is an Indian telecom giant and Huawei is a Chinese telecom equipment maker.

  • The 5G services will be rolled out for consumers by 2020.
  • 5G is wireless communication technology based on third-generation partnership project (3GPP).
  • It is next generation mobile networks technology after 4G LTE networks.

It is expected to offer enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) through R15 repeaters that can cater to coverage requirements.


Avani Chaturvedi Becomes 1st Indian Woman to Fly Fighter Aircraft Solo

Flying officer Avani Chaturvedi scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to fly a fighter aircraft solo.

She flew a MiG-21 bison in her first solo flight from Jamnagar base of Indian Air Force (IAF) in Gujarat.
